Mauro Zarate
So does Sam leaving now pave the way for him to make a return?

Shame Ravel Morrison didn't stick around as any new manager may have had him in their plans?

Morrison.is way beyond redemption...

Zarate might be recovered by a good manager...

Re: Mauro Zarate
Between Zarate and Maiga, I reckon we have enough up front and don't need to recruit a new striker.

Sakho, Carroll, Valencia, Zarate and Maiga are all capable if scoring goals if provided with decent service, they're all a good age, and our total focus should be in the supply of chances to them recruitment wise (manager aside).

Re: Mauro Zarate
These are the sort of players we should be swerving.

New manager and better signings. He is Ok and provided some little moments of class in a very mediocre team.

No thanks. Get rid of all our strikers except Sahko and bring in quality

Stubbo 4:06 Mon May 25
Re: Mauro Zarate
Totally disagree. Change needs to be gradual, and even very high quality players like Henry, and to an lesser extent Jovetic and Dzeko struggled early in our league.

Bringing in entirely new players in a large scale way is very risky...look at Liverpool this year.

Our strikeforce have goals is them. Our problem is we literally create no chances in open play. None.

How many chances (good chances) do our strikers miss...not many as they don't have the opportunity.

Large spending MUST go on the midfield supply line.

Re: Mauro Zarate
Obviously there are reports that Zarate has an attitude problem, however he did buy out his contract with his previous club to join us, got sidelined, then got shipped out to a shit club. You can sort of understand him being a bit stroppy about it.

I'd like to see him given a proper chance in a team that doesn't send balls flying over his head or punted 30 yards in front of him to run after before I write him off. The same can be said of Maiga.

Zarate is not good enough and like Morrison has a wire loose in his head.

Re: Mauro Zarate
Zarate isn't good enough to be worth the bother.

Morrisson might be, but he needs to find someone who's willing and, more importantly, able to manage him pretty damn quick, or we'll never know what might have been.

Actually, I'm not sure I want to know what might have been if he's doing it for another club.

BFS had many faults but he cannot be held responsible for the piss poor attitude and application of Morrison and Zarate.

Re: Mauro Zarate
Not sure I want him around the club. Seems like a troublemaking cunt under whatever manager. Clearly rubbed them up the wrong way at QPR where he should have been an important player for them instead of kicking up a fuss in the background. This after he kicked up a fuss here and was sent on loan.

You want a team mate who is going to stand up and be counted and support his colleagues when they are up against it. Not storm off in a huff if they are not picked to play. For all his shortcomings on the pitch, you can bet Nolan would still have been geeing up and encouraging those who were in the team on the occasions he wasn't, rather than leaving the stadium.

"even very high quality players like Henry, and to an lesser extent Jovetic and Dzeko struggled early in our league."

this would be the same thierry henry that scored 26 goals in his first season? he didnt struggle in our league, he was adapting to a new role as a striker when he had previously been a winger.

Re: Mauro Zarate
I'm looking forward to Maiga coming back. He did alright in France and whatever his faults, he was never a prima donna or trouble-maker.

Zarate had a chance to get his season back on track at QPR but has obviously failed. He has a history of having tantrums so I'm not holding out much hope for next season.

So your Sunday side could compete in the French top division? Because for someone that can't play football, playing in Ligue 1 and scoring 9 goals is a pretty good achievement.

You do have to love the nonsense some post on WHO

Re: Mauro Zarate
I think it'll be interesting to see what the new manager makes I'd the players at his disposal. If gs plays two up front tgen Sakho, Valencia, maiga, Zarate and carroll gives you a whole wealth of different options.

As rightly pointed out previously, it's our lack of creativity that is a major issue. When Downing was at the tip of the diamond causing ironies we looked great. When nolan played in the joke with Downing out wide we looked awful. We need a proper playmaker and a couple of wily wide players. I'd start with Nathan redmond

Re: Mauro Zarate
I am all about second chances, so give them all a go under the new manager.

That being said, live and otherwise I never saw anything that made me think that Maiga put enough effort in to succeed in the Premiership and Zarate needs to actual train.

As for Morrison he has had 2nd and 3rd and 4th chances under a number of managers. Lets not be silly and mention him, for no other reason other than he is gone.

Nappy 9:14 Mon May 25
Re: Mauro Zarate
Yesterday showed up once again and has done for a long period of time. When playing 1 up front we need a decent 'no. 10' not a shite 'no.4'!
I'm sure the new manager will see this and if managed correctly Zarate could be perfect.

Re: Mauro Zarate
By all accounts, Zarate has thrown his toys at QPR as well. That being said, I saw enough early season to suggest that he has something to offer. As well as that goal v Palace, he came on in the 2nd half at Everton and was so much better than Cole it was untrue. Lucky goal, granted, but he deserved it as he was probably our best player that match.
